Early Flight: Extremely rare poster for the First Aviation Meeting in England. Doncaster, 15th to 23rd October 1909. / Alf Cooke, Ltd. Leeds & London. In dominant green and red colouring, an advertisement for this first air meeting with 'Cody, Delagrange, Farman, Sommer, Leblon, Molon, Prevot, De La Vaux & other aviators engaged' depicts a monoplane, two biplanes behind, passing over Doncaster racecourse and stands. 100 x 61.5cm. NB: The first aviation meeting in England was held at Doncaster Racecourse in October 1909 between the 18th and the 23rd of the month. Doncaster Racecourse was chosen to host the air show following the world’s first air display in Rheims which were held in 1908.
