A Very Rare Minerva 1940s WW2 German Nazi Kriegsmarine Chronograph Pocket Watch. These wartime timepieces were used for measuring the distance of allied cannons by measuring the light from the firing and thunder of sound. Black dial. Markings on back of case. Unfortunately missing second hand/top of winder - not in working order so as found. 51mm case diameter. Note from the vendor: My father was an SOE operative. He was an officer in Poland before the war and when war broke out he quickly got out of the country and made his way through Europe eventually ending up in England in 1940 where he was trained by the British in espionage and sabotage at Fort William and Audley End. He, along with many other similar agents, was parachuted into occupied Poland in 1942 and he remained active there until the end of the war organising and coordinating partisan resistance groups. He took an active part in the Warsaw uprising. After the war he returned to and settled in England where he remained until his death in 1986.
The German items could conceivably have been brought back with him after the war ended.
