Soldiers Letter. 1836 (Nov 5) Entire letter from Cawnpore to Lancaster headed "From Corporal William Braithwaite, 2nd Troop, 2nd Brigade Horse Artillery, Soldiers Letter", countersigned by an officer, charged 2d sea postage + 1d soldiers rate with boxed "INDIA LETTER / LIVERPOOL" (In.2) and circular "INDIA SOLDIER &c / 3 / LIVERPOOL" (In.5), Calcutta G.P.O Ship Letter backstamp, a good example of this scarce soldiers rate handstamp.
