District Bank (Henry Brearey) to James Thompson at Royal Bank of Scotland, Edinburgh, 4th/6th May 1836, regarding management prospects of William Foote; "Newcastle &c District Bank, Newcastle on Tyne, 4th May 1836. Sir, Mr Wm. Foote of Trinity Edinbro' - having applied for the management of the above Bank & having referred the Provisional Committee to you for information respecting him, the Provisional Commissioner would esteem it a favour if you would give your confidential opinion as to Mr Foote's ability to take the management of a large concern in which several Branches are likely to be established, his character ----(?) with any other information likely to be of service in enabling the Committee to arrive at a correct estimation of Mr Foote.
