Books: The Starbuck family of Nantucket. Novum Testamentum Syriace. Syriac text with Latin translation by Martin Trost. 843 pages with contemporary vellum boards. Dated 1621 with numerous Starbuck names inscribed, most notably Benjamin and Sarah. Part of the Starbuck archive being sold through this saleroom. The Starbuck family were prominent in the anti-slavery movement both in the UK and the USA. Having been involved in the founding of Nantucket, members of the family emigrated to Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, after the American Revolutionary War and continued their successful whaling business.
