Dan Welldon, Venice Gondolas, 2001, mounted silver gelatine print, 1/25, 60cm x 60cm
A view of the island of San Giorgio Maggiore taken from the Palazzo Ducale during the high waters.
This is a lith print (also known as kodalith) printed by the photographer on Japanese manufactured Oriental Seagull paper. Lith printing uses a chemical developer which exponentially accelerates the development process time making each print unique and produces contrasty prints with gritty and harsh shadows which lend a very atmospheric quality to each print.
Mounted & unframed.
