THE WATERLOO MEDAL 1815, named to Frederick Baurmann 1st Regiment Hussars K.G.L. (Kings German Legion), (General Edge knocks and surface scratches and some ware to naming conducive with age, ribbon faded to one side). The Kings German Legion achieved the distinction of being the only German force to fight without interruption against the French during the Napoleonic Wars. Another battle honour of the 1st Hussars is the The Battle of El Bodón, was a successful rearguard action fought on 25 September 1811 by elements of the Anglo-Portuguese army against waves of French cavalry, supported by a division of infantry of the French army during the Peninsular War. According to the historian Alessandro Barbero, the King's German Legion ‘had such a high degree of professionalism that it was considered equal in every way to the best British units.’
