George III, 1760-1820. An 1812 ‘Scorrier House’ Cornish Penny, ob. View of a mill with script ‘Payable At Scorrier House One Pound For 240 Tokens, rev. arms of the Prince Of Wales.

During the currency shortage in the early 19th century, John Williams (1753–1841) took the initiative to pay his workers in his own ‘Cornish currency’, struck in copper from his own mines.
