A fine French (Paris 1809-1819), gold, enamelled and micromosaic adorned snuffbox, the mosaic attributed to Giacomo Raffaelli, (Rome 1753 - 1836); of rectangular form, the hinged cover decorated with a flock of birds and other creatures, including a cockerel, a parrot, a jay, a serpent and a butterfly beside a cascade; within a gold border of scrolling foliage in recessed relief and an outer blue enamelled band; above tortoiseshell front, back and sides; one end with indistinct French Hallmarks, Rooster with number 3 (750), Paris, 1809-1819, attributed to JEAN-LOUIS LEFERRE, 2cm high, 8.5cm wide, 4cm deep
