An early Victorian gilt brass, enamel and mother-of-pearl mounted desktop compendium in the form of a posting box, by Leuchars & Son, mid 19th century, the octagonal section hinged cover inset with a compass by Samuel Berry Singer and plaque and opening to a candle socket, the cylindrical body with a card listing feast days and containing a compartment and recessed inkwell within, mounted on an ebonised wood circular plinth, inscribed with manufacturer's name to the interior, 19cm high, 12cm diameter overall
