A4 clip folder collated by late British special effects designer John Stears circa 1977 containing hand typed construction and break down notes on the design and operation of the original R2D2 droid from Star Wars (IV, A New Hope). Part of a collection of original Star Wars ephemera obtained from Elstree Studios based prop making firm Norank by Paul Harrison, son of Norank founder Norman Harrison. Folder cover has an R2 unit painted in Tippex by Stears and a triangular "The Star Wars" stickers applied. 16 pages, 8 plates.

Please refer to the final picture which is a letter sent from Norank founder Norman Harrison to his son Paul detailing the acquisition and provenance of the collection (not included in this sale) and describes the visit to John Stears home and refers to their friendship and professional relationship and that "The manuals were his and are the only ones".
