A fine and rare 18th century longcase clock by John Seymour, the brass clock face having a silvered Roman numeral chapter ring engraved John Seymour of Wantage bordering a matted centre with subsidiary seconds and calendar aperture, the chinoiserie green painted case decorated all over with gilded foliage, the trunk door depicting a figural scene with deer below, with weights, pendulum and key, 224cm high. Provenance: The selection of clocks within this auction comes from a local private deceased estate who began collecting around 30 to 35 years ago. During the time the clocks have been within their possession they have been well looked after and maintained and serviced by either the vendor or Robert Loomes. Condition reports can be provided upon request. The case may not be original to the dial and has been fully restored therefore the piece is in good condition but there are clear signs of repairs, restorations and over painting. We have provided additional photographs to ensure that you satisfy yourselves as the buyer of the pieces condition and authenticity.
