A postcard written by Flight Lieutenant Roger G. Simmons (prisoner no. 1350) dated 6th February 1944 from Stalag Luft III to Miss Iris M. Boxall, about a month prior to 'The Great Escape'. Simmons was one of the workers on the escape project.
In the letter he mentions that Wally (Floody) wife is sending vitamin pills, of which Wally had asked for these to be sent as part of his escape equipment. Wally was moved to Stalag Luft IV just prior to the escape thanks to a German 'Robbuerneck' chief ferret who suspected Wally of being involved in an escape attempt. As head tunneler the German ferret was right in his suspicions.
