In 1983 the new 3.6-litre Jaguar AJ6 straight-six (I6) engine was introduced, and a new cabriolet version, the XJ-SC produced, with the coupé's rather small rear seats dropped, making it a 2-seat car. The XJ-SC was not a full convertible but had a non-removable centre targa-type structure and fixed rails above the doors. The rear quarter windows remained as well. The six-cylinder cars can be identified by a slightly raised "power bulge", running along the longitudinal centre section of the bonnet. A V12 powered XJ-SC was introduced in 1985.
This 1985 XJ-SC is offered with a sensationally low mileage reading of only 18,900, which is believed to be correct. The recent MOT history (back to 2009) corroborates this and the car is believed to have been in storage for 10 years up until 2008, an advertisement for its sale back then sits in the history file.
The car itself has recently had a very clean MOT test and is said to drive well. The file shows regular maintenance since 2008 but earlier history would take some digging. Whilst in need of cosmetic fettling, this XJ-S generally presents well.
With only approximately 700 RHD examples of this model ever made (and 400 remaining) this represents a rare opportunity.
