RARE JUMEAU FRENCH DOLL & ACCESSORIES. A rare late 19thc bisque head doll by Jumeau, with fixed glass paperweight eyes, closed mouth and applied pierced ears. With a composition jointed body and fixed wrists, impressed and painted marks to the neck 'Depose, Jumeau, M/XII', and with a printed mark to the back (18 1/4ins, 46cms high). Also with an antique brass dolls bed (52cms long) with mattress and linen, and some dolls clothing.
*This doll has passed through the vendors family on the mothers side. It may have come via her grandfather who was Warwick Draper, he was an author and associated with figures involved with the Arts and Crafts Movement, he had a younger sister so it may have been her doll, or possibly his wife Grace Devitt who has a memorial window at Tyneham Church in Dorset.
Doll, the doll appears to be in untouched condition and has been stored in a trunk for many years. Head seems generally fine, a little dirty and with a few marks where the hair has been stuck to the top of the head, the pate looks original and is stuck into position (we have not removed this in case we damage the head), feet and hands have some small chips/nibbles in places, some wear/surface loss to the body in places.
