A LATE 18TH CENTURY 'COFFIN POMMEL' SABRE.
With an 83cm curved blade with broad fuller and Turkish inspired engraving of dragons, crescent moon and trophies, with a checkered rectangular section ivory grip, large diamond shaped langets engraved with military trophies, with flat topped 'coffin' pommel, in a steel scabbard with leather and velvet sections and twin ring suspension, the top mount engraved 'Prosser late Cullim Sword cutler& belt maker to the King H.R.H. Duke of York, Charring Cross London' and with owners initials and date 'P.M. 1798'. 99cm overall.
