Star Lot : A fabulous original watercolour on paper painting by the renowned Irish artist Tom Nisbet R.H.A. (b.1909 - d.2001). Features a landscape scene of figure walking her dog along a canal walkway, lined by mature trees on a winter's day. Nicely observed with the use of dry brushstrokes to create an atmospheric composition. Rendered in tones of mauve and sage. Signed bottom right and housed in a high quality ash wood frame with complementary moss toned matting. Nisbet has a very strong auction history with works fetching high hundreds to thousands.

Tom Nisbet was a Belfast born watercolour artist who studied at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art. His work was exhibited with the Dublin Sketching Club, the Watercolour Society of Ireland and the Royal Hibernian Academy, of which he was elected a member in 1962. Nisbet was also responsible for founding the Grafton Gallery in Dublin in 1944, which aims to provide a space for new and upcoming artists to show their work.
