A Japanese carved gold lacquer comb, Meiji period, 4 x 8.5cm. 7 x 9.5cm; a carved and gilded comb, Showa period, 3.5 x 11cm; a Burmese gold-plated comb, 3.5 x 8.5cm; a Japanese celluloid horseshoe, circa 1930; a white-metal and tortoiseshell comb, 3.7 x 9.5cm and six various Japanese gold lacquer combs. (11) From the collection of Pat Johnstone, a Cornish artist and sculptor, who also had a passion for collecting Asian antiques and especially Japanese combs, kogai and kanzashi. Her collection has been curated for over 40 years and includes items from the Miriam Slater collection.
