1899 QSA no clasp to Nursing Sister L. Vere Hodge & 1914-15 Star to Matron L.V. Hodge S.A.M.N.S., BWM and bilingual Victory Medal to Matron L.V. Hodge about extremely fine, with 2 box lids of issue for star & BWM. Sold with small 6 pointed star, reverse stamped gold, weighs 1.06g. With 14 copied pages of research and letter from South African researcher, Leila Vere Hodge, "served 3 year term at Alfred Hospital, Training School for Nurses, Melbourne and passed 2 exams qualifying her to act as a skilled medical and surgical nurse", letter dated 21/1/99. From same hospital, "Since January last she has been acting sister in charge of one of the typhoid wards," dated 12/4/99. Note from Lt Col N. Watson Pike RAMC, "she was one of the nursing sisters at 15 Field Hospital, Potchefstroom," dated 6/8/02. She enrolled in SAMNS 17/11/14 aged 39, promoted Matron 19/12/14 while serving at No 1 General Hospital Wynberg, released from service 17/8/15.
