An Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co, sterling silver woven mesh necklace scarf, tag stamped "Tiffany & Co. Sterling PERETTI", "925" verso for sterling silver, approx. 107cm long overall, total gross weight of the necklace scarf is approx. 135.1 grams with the original Tiffany dark blue lined suede case and outer Tiffany & Co blue card box. Elsa Peretti (1940-2021) was An Italian jewellery designer and former fashion model. She moved to New York in 1968 and set about designing for herself and soon began collaborations with various fashion brands including Halston. It was through Roy Halston that she was introduced to Tiffany and in 1974 produced her debut collection for them. She was an instant hit and her jewels sold out almost instantly. The following year she created the 'Mesh' collection following a period spent sourcing the, by then old machines, used to produce precious metal purses and evening bags so popular from the turn of the 19th/20th century and through the Art Deco period. Elsa Peretti became one of Tiffany's most successful designers over the course of her career. Many of her timeless designs including 'Mesh' are still being produced and sold today.
