Roman Bronze Die. Circa 200-1450 AD. Copper-alloy, 4.29g. 8.75mm. Geoff Egan (1997) notes that the "regular" layout is most common amongst medieval and later dice though this is in contrast with MacGregor (1985) who suggests that non-regular dice were most common from AD 1200-1500. Similar dice are illustrated in Crummy (1983, 96-97) which are dated to the Roman period and in Egan (1998, 290-291 nos. 953 and 954) which are dated to c.AD 1350-1450. Therefore only a broad date range can be suggested.
