Charles II (1660-85), Guinea, 1666, third laureate head right, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, five strings to harp. (MCE 60; S.3342, EGC 236 ‘R2’). About as struck for issue, with a light reddish tone. Conservatively graded by PCGS AU58. This is a superb example of the Charles II third head issue. Notoriously weakly struck, we believe this example to be one of the finer examples available to commerce and as such believe it to be undergraded at AU58.
