** CHESTERFIELD (DERBYS.) - LETTER FROM LONDON "TRANSPORT OFFICE" TO PAROLE P.O.W.; Very fine 1 Apr. 1811 EL (full typed transcript) prepaid from London to "M. le Colonel la Grange Prisonnier de Guerre sur le Cautionnement de Chesterfield" endorsed & signed on the front "Transport Office A. McLeay" but sent by a newly arrived Frenchman who writes that; "I have arrived from Paris and hasten to pass on to you the enclosed letter that Madame your mother gave me." It was prepaid "1/6" (double 9d rate) with a v. fine red London "PAID" cds on the front and has a red wax seal of the "TRANSPORT OFFICE" itself.
