A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH CHASSEPOT BAYONET AND SCABBARD BY A SCARCE MANUFACTURER. An 1866 pattern chassepot bayonet with a 57 cm curved, pointed and single edged blade with broad fuller. Marked to the back of the blade 'Stehelin & Cie Bitschwiller Thann December, 1867'. The cross piece numbered ...106, with forward facing quillon, brass grip with spring, in a steel scabbard. 71 cm overall.
