The 1987 Fiat Panda offered here is described by the vendor as the best Panda of its type, having benefited from a full rebuild. The vendors (Fiat Panda enthusiasts) have owned the car for about ten years, and several years ago they undertook a complete strip down and rebuild of the car. The bodywork required very minimal rust repairs and was painted inside and out using two pack paint.
The owners had been collecting parts in readiness for the rebuild, as a result 95% of the mechanical components fitted to the refurbished shell are new genuine Fiat items. These items include a factory engine that was shipped from Italy, back axle, steering rack, all brake components, all suspension components, radiator and cooling fan, five wheels, tyres and hub caps, drive shafts, wheel hubs and bearings, front and rear bumpers, both sunroof frames and vinyl coverings, screen wash reservoir and motor, tool kit and jack.
In addition, the interior trim was restored, the seats were stripped of their covers and professionally reinforced with a material backing to ensure their longevity, as the covers are no longer available new. The gearbox is the original but refurbished internally, all external linkages are new.
The owners are massive Fiat Panda fans, having owned a few over the years, but this one was their baby, hence all the expense and attention, they even used it as their wedding car five years ago. The reason for sale is that they now run a 4x4 tour business in Africa and are unlikely to use it enough in the future.
The Panda has covered 1k miles since the rebuild and has spent the last five or six years in dry storage under an indoor cover, that will also be included in the sale (genuine Fiat accessory of course). The current mileage is 57,000, 1,500 since the rebuild.
The car was collected from storage about two months ago, checked over and put in for an MOT test, which it passed with no advisories. The vehicle was also driven on a 300 mile round trip to the Bauer Media offices for a magazine article, which it did faultlessly, driving like a new car.
