Wendy Ramshaw OBE (1939-2018) for NMEC, a rare prototype Millennium Dome VVIP medal and two prototype crew medals and packaging, the first a prototype VVIP medal presented in a cream resin case. The case is made of recycled yoghurt pots, hence the metallic flakes in it. It was because of this unique aspect that Wendy Ramshaw chose this as the final design and material for the case. The medal is made of layers of stainless steel, nanocrystalline diamond-coated steel bisected by a gold ‘meridian line’ rod, made by Ramshaw, 72mm, there are believed to be less than ten VVIP medals in existence, two NMEC crew steel prototypes with and without inscriptions, 72mm, various cardboard prototype packaging, together with printed correspondence from Wendy Ramshaw and one finished NMEC crew medal in cardboard packaging.

Provenance - the archive of the former Design & Development Director for the New Millennium Experience Company, c.1999-2000. He was responsible for commissioning artists, medallists and product designers for Dome merchandise.
An example of the medal with nanocrystalline diamond-coated steel bisected by a gold ‘meridian line’ rod is in the Science Museum.
