A Coalport 'Coalbrookdale' porcelain writing set or deskstand, circa 1835 of twin-handled form, with inkwell, sander and spill vase, finely painted with flowers and butterflies, typically encrusted with flowers, signed in underglaze blue 'Cdale' to the base, 30cm wide (missing one inkwell) Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection. Notes: This 'two by two' configuration is much rarer than the more commonly found inkstands which typically only include three central linear recesses for inkwells, a vase and/or a candlestick.
