The squarer-styled Mark II appeared in January 1975. The first production models had rolled off the production lines on 2 December 1974. The MK2 was developed jointly between the UK and Ford of Germany. Codenamed "Brenda" during its development, it used the same mechanical components as the Mark I. The car used a revised under-body, which had been introduced as a running change during the last six months production of the Mark I, and the rear suspension still sat on leaf springs.
The "L" and "GL" models (2-door, 4-door, estate) were in the mainstream private sector, the "Sport", "RS Mexico", and "RS2000" in the performance market, the "Ghia" (2-door, 4-door) for a hitherto untapped small car luxury market, and "base / Popular" models for the bottom end.
Purchased by the current owner in 1982 with 2 previous owners, the first thought to be the supplying garage, and owned until her death in October 2015. The car is being sold now that probate has been completed. The car has done less than 24,000 miles, and is believed to have been kept garaged, and well looked after. The car comes with lots of old MOTs, work invoices, and original handbooks etc. are included, and This car is in outstanding unrestored condition, there can't be many like this left!
