Railway. Modern Traction. A small selection of approx. 106 x 35mm, colour slides, on mixed film stock. Part of the Tony Hill collection. Tony was born in Paignton …worked on the Devon red bus co. as a young man and was a life- long member of the Devon Red Society. He travelled the world photographing trains and amassed a huge collection of railway material. His principal employment was in the transportation section of the County Planning Department. In later years he worked both at the National Archives in Kew and at the Bodleian library in Oxford – both giving him opportunities to delve into railway history. This small selection features traction in Devon during the 1970's and 1980's, centered around one of Tony's regular haunts-Exeter St Davids. There are several "Westerns" as well as 1 shot of a "Baby Warship". The selection does include some BR steam-black and white slides, these could be some of Tony's earlier shots from Devon. There are no captions, however, the copyright will pass to the purchaser. Sample illustrated.
