A rare “Warren” Pattern 2 WW1 aviators flying helmet by Christy’s London Fine scarce example by Christy’s Hatters of London. Brown hardened leather shell with padding, leather ear flaps with buckle strap (buckle absent) and strap to the chin. The interior retains leather lining and scarce paper tailor’s label stating “Aviators Safety helmet”. Also with an ink name “Elliott”. The helmet has some age and service wear, but remains a good example of the type. This pattern of helmet was popular with early aviators and was issued by the RFC to front line pilots during the early part of the war and then was used for trainee pilots.
