India General Service Medal Burma 1885-7 & 1887-9 Clasps, awarded to 1135 Corpl J Wheirs 1st BN York LI (some abrasion to medal rim). 1st Battalion Kings Own (Yorkshire Light Infantry) medal rolls confirm award to medal and clasps as above although surname is spelt Wheers in one of the rolls. 1st Battalion were deployed in the Third Burma War to counter the local resistance campaign to the British annexation of Upper Burma.
