A George III pewter plate, with engine-turned decoration, circa 1780

The all-over wavy-linear decoration applied on a wheel, diameter 24.4cm

Literature: See P. Hornsby, ‘Pewter of the Western World’ (1983), p. 92, pl. 93, for a similar decorated plate. The author notes the decoration is ‘similar to that used in Quaker clock workshops for clock faces towards the end of the eighteenth century'
