Napoleon Bonaparte Interest: An early 19th Century Travelling Apothercary Cabinet, with a pair of doors enclosing compartmented interior for bottles, two copartmented drawers and pair of hand-cut metal balance scales, hand-etched glass measures, a secret rear sliding panel enclosing further bottle compartments, flush brass escutcheons and handle to the top engraved 'Surgeon Barry Edward O'Meara RN.' 27x22x18cm, Barry Edward O'Meara (1786–1836), born in Newtown House, Newtown-on-Sea (now known as Blackrock), Dublin, was an Irish surgeon and founding member of the Reform Club, who accompanied Napoleon to Saint Helena and became his physician, having been surgeon on board the Bellerophon when the emperor surrendered himself. He was a medical graduate of Trinity College Dublin.
