£200 - £400
Two porcelain figures after Peter Scheemakers (Belgian, 1691-1781), probably Derby early 19th century, one modelled as William Shakespeare, incised 'No 305' to base, 25.5cm high, the other modelled as John Milton, incised 'No 297' to base, 26cm high, each on octagonal plinth, gilt highlights throughout (2)
William Shakespeare has thumb and figure repaired, evidence of 'heavy' painting around the books indicating possible further restoration.
General crazing to the glazing with some rubbing to the gilt detail. Very minor nibbles to the bottom edge of the cloak.
Second figure similarly with general crazing and rubbing wear to the gilt detail. Small hairline crack to the scroll and to the right hand.
