1839 Embossed essay. Very fine example produced by Charles Whiting showing the uncrowned Queen's head within an ornate oval frame, in yellow green with 'PAID' above the Queen's head. Printed on a small envelope with 'THE IMPROVED SAFETY ENVELOPE/ No.483. - Registered Nov. 18, 1840, by/MITCHELL AND SON, 39, CHARING CROSS' imprinted under flap in black.
