A mid 19c Dutch Staartklok wall clock, the oak case inlaid with marquetry of foliage and birds and having a glazed hood containing the movement and a hollow 'fish tail' case containing the pendulum (pendulum missing). The post frame 30 hour movement is countwheel striking on a bell and has an anchor escapement. Is also has an alarm mechanism set by a central disc on the dial (chain and weight missing). The 28cm arched dial has a naive rural Dutch scene in the arch and Roman numerals with Arabic outer five minute markers. The dial corners have repoussé work brass figural spandrels and there is a (now detached) repoussé work hoop around the edge of the chapter ring. The lower part of the fish tail has a lenticle through which to view the pendulum bob. The repoussé work pierced cover is now detached and damaged. The clock is 125cm tall.
The clock needs a complete overhaul of movement dial and case and a replacement pendulum, alarm chain and weight.
