Mikhail Evlampievich Perkhin (1806 - 1903) was a self-taught goldsmith who became head workmaster for the House of Faberge in 1886. Together with the Faberge brothers Carl and Agathon, they introduced new techniques and inventions, including transparent enamels and varicoloured gold. Perkhin's period as head Faberge workmaster is generally acknowledged to be the most artistically innovative, with a huge range of styles from neo-Rococo to Renaissance. Together with Henrick Wigstrom he is recognised as one of the most important workmasters.
