A Blue and White Dish with Lotus, six character mark of Jiajing and of the period, well painted in silvery tones of cobalt, with a clump of flowering lotus growing from water in the centre, within a double line border, and on the well with six lotus flowers borne on a foliate scroll, within another double line border at the slightly out-turned rim, the exterior sides with an overall chrysanthemum scroll within line borders around the unglazed footrim ,burnt russet in the firing, and the flat glazed base, which bears the nianhao within a double ring, 21.5cm.
