Turton's dictionary is one of the earliest comprehensive references for conchologists interested in the British Isles. The work laid the foundation for further research in conchology, both in the British Isles and beyond. His classifications and descriptions influenced subsequent generations of conchologists and provided a basis for future studies of molluscs. This copy is as close to the original press as one could hope to find.
