A tribal helmet of the African Congo Shulis Tribe, probably a chief, the dome completely covered in cowrie shells, with a long scarlet tapering cloth tail 24", embroidered with patchwork and a leather strip supporting two cloth tabs of patchwork. Good Condition (a similar type of headdress was worn by the Congo Kuba tribe). See "History of Mankind" by Ratzel Volume 1, page 101. Plate 16
