TRUSCOTT INK. 3ins tall, dark aqua glass, sheared lip, 12 sided base & shoulder. Heavily embossed TRUSCOTT around lower panel. Henry Truscott was active between 1851-69 in south London. Sir James Truscott (1825-1895) at Nelson Square and Suffolk Lane was both wholesale manufacturing stationer and a letterpress printer. He was twice master of Stationers’ Company and Lord Mayor in 1879. Company registered a cotton reel ink in 1851. This bottle probably dates about 1860 and its curiously elaborate shape may indicate it was intended as a building figural - made clearer with a label? Some very light internal staining/ residue otherwise very good. Rare. (9/10) (NR)
