Frank Dadd (1925) - 'The First of September' - original watercolour and pencil artwork by Frank Dadd. Portraying a countryside scene in which two men are hunting with shotguns and a horse, accompanied by a woman and two gun dogs. Signed to the bottom right corner in pencil 'FRANK DADD 1925'. Framed and mounted. Measuring approximately 44 cm x 55.5 cm including the frame.
Frank Dadd was born 28th March 1851 in London, and studied at the Royal College of Art, in which he won a silver medal for drawing from life. He then worked as an illustrator for the Illustrated London News from 1878 - 1884, and then at The Graphic. He was also elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1884 and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1888. He died on 7th March 1929.
