A hand painted fan, 19th century , the leaf with central panel depicting a mourning scene, with further panels of cherubs and exotic birds, all within ornate painted gilt borders, the reverse with nine vignettes of couples in various historic costumes, the bone sticks with incised foliate patterns, 27.5cm long, in associated box
Missing one bone guard. One top corner of the fan has torn and been repaired. Rivet missing. Some general wear visible but decoration appears accomplished.
