U.P.U. PERIOD UNDERPAID COVERS INC. "CANADIAN-PKT" C.D.S. WITH "7½" MARK, PLYMOUTH "3½", ETC.; 2 Jan. 1877 env. (flap lost) from Victoria BC to Somerset "Via NY" with Small Queen 3c+2c tied by dumb bars but overweight and so having "INSUFFICIENTLY-PAID" and what appears to be an unrecorded handstruck "7½" mark crayoned (all done on board the S.S. 'Polynesian'?) over because it was struck so faintly, also having a partly fine rare "CANADIAN-PKT" steamer's P.O. cds; plus similar 18 Aug. 1877 env. ex "INTERCOLONIAL RAILWAY/Riviere du Loup" (v. fine oval blue d.s. on reverse) to Clitheroe with Small Queen 5c cancelled by small m/s "X" (?tied tied by light ink smudge) with blue crayon "7½" charge, and 14 Mar. 1879 env. (faint address) from Heathcote to Scotland with 3c tied by target but underpaid for the 5c rate ad so having a superb Liverpool h.s. "3½" (very scarce) on the front.
