Nottingham interest. An unusual pictorial painted canvas banner of the Trip to Jerusalem Inn Nottingham, 1894-1914, red painted wooden rollers, 95 x 93cm, signed lower centre MARSHALL 14 MOUNT ST NOTTM

The present banner can be dated with reasonable certainty for the tenure of publican George Henry Ward "Yorkie". A Nottingham landmark, the Trip to Jerusalem situated at the foot of the Castle is of great antiquity originating in the 12th century. Prior to 1799, it was known as 'The Pilgrim', a probable reference to crusader knights
