A South African Railways cabside numberplate, 1593, from a 3ft 6ins gauge Class 14A 4-8-2 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 20585, in 1914. When a new boiler was fitted, it was re-classified as Class 14R, the A suffix being ground off the cabside and replaced by an R indicating it had been rebuilt. All were withdrawn by 1983. Cast brass, 20¾"x14½", the front cleaned but unpainted. (Postage Band: D)
