Mary Thornycroft (1809-1895). A Victorian carved white marble bust of a young woman, wearing a floral wreath and her hair in a plaited bun, signed and dated 1859, 32cm wide, 54cm high
Mary Thornycroft was commissioned by Queen Victoria to create a number of statues and portraits of her children and other members of the Royal Family. Several of these are now in the British Royal Collection.
Weathered from outside exposure with lichen and discolouration throughout, however the details do not seem to have been to heavily eroded, a shallow repaired chip to the back right side, signed and dated to the back which is a little indistinct
