2014 Vins d'Orrance Kama Chenin Blanc (750ml) x 2 bottles - Provenance: Restaurant Mosaic Wine Cellar Collection
Born and raised in France, from a Calvados family, Christophe Durand moved to Cape Town in 1995. Initially working as a supplier of premium French wine barrels, he became more and more involved in winemaking, eventually combining his knowledge and passion for fines wines to create Dorrance Wines. They source grapes from across the Cape for their wines. Kama was grown on a single vineyard of decomposed granite soils, dry-farmed and 40 years of age. 70 percent was matured in concrete eggs with the remainder in older French oak barrels. Earthy with wild meadow herbs, white peach, heady concentration and a complex, spicy palate with texted mineral undertones and a firm but well placed bracket of oak. "How gripping! Quince, honeysuckle and acacia with high acidity, hay aromas and a Sherry-like note in the background. Old honey, nuts and waxy peaches. Complex and vibrant, oxidative hints yet bristling freshness" with a Decanter 90 points.
