Folio Society books including 'History of England', six volumes, four with slip cases; also H Rider Haggard 'African Adventures' with slip case; Sherlock Holmes Complete Novels, four volumes in slip cover and five further volumes, loose; Thomas Hardy collection of six volumes in card slip cover; Thomas Hodgkin 'The Barbarian Invasions' Vols I and II, with card slips; G K Chesterton 'Father Brown Stories' 2 vols with card slips; 'Seven Years War' with card slip; Adventures Stories from the Strand' and 'The Secret History' both with card slips (31 Vols)
Thomas Hardy: Minor scuffs and rubbing to the outer case and a little rubbing to the spine of 'Far from the Madding Crowd'. Otherwise the pages are clean and the books overall are clean.
Haggard: Slight, minor rubbing to the case. Books and pages are good and clean.
Father Brown: As Haggard
Hodgkins: Some knocks and more wear to the cases, with folds at the front coming loose. One of the books, in fact that one of that particular case, has been read. The other volume has slight warping to the case, slight swelling to the spine. Otherwise pages are good.
7 Years War: Damp damage to the case. Rubbing to the cloth spine. Damp rippling to the pages and some discolouration at the edges. Consider that volume to be soiled.
History of England: Two vols do not have card cases. There is rubbing and discolouration on the spines. Those without cases have some warping to the covers. These books have clearly been read.
Conan Doyle: Slight marking to the spine of one or two with some slight markings to the page edges. Those with no case are generally in worse condition.
To summarise, though not in perfect condition and some having clearly been read and some without case, but overall a good selection, and the estimate reflects their secondhand imperfections.
