Property of a gentleman - Glasgow University, Dobbie Smith Medal, an unmarked gold (tests 23ct - printout available) medal awarded to Professor Benjamin George Cormack, dated 1891, 45mm diameter, approximately 74.9 grams, in fitted leather box inscribed ALEXR. KIRKWOOD & SON / Medalists. //EDINBURGH'; together with another medal to the same recipient, from DUMBARTON BURGH ACADEMY, the centre panel hallmarked 15ct gold, the laurel frame unmarked gold (tests 18ct - printout available), approximately 29.9 grams, in fitted leather box; and a small quantity of ephemera relating to the recipient (a lot). Footnote - Benjamin George Cormack (1866-1936) was educated at Glasgow University and held several posts, chiefly in botany, including Emeritus Professor of Botany at Anderson College of Medicine, Glasgow.
